My approach to ceramics is almost visceral, primordial, partly involuntary. It seems to me to be a work in relation to the beginning of history, that of our ancestors, who created almost sacred containers, intended to contain food, to nourish, when living conditions were very difficult and often adverse. I like to probe the possibilities of matter, with conical or spherical, open or closed shapes, which invite us to overcome appearances and discover new revelations. First they are differently colored clays, mixed, cut, stratified, crushed. They form vortices, spirals, chromatic swirls, and are often embellished with pure gold. The fragments, intended to decorate, become jewels. The Shells, the Hemispheres, Queens and Ladies, Pods and Diamonds are transformed into open stories with a solid, intimate common thread: the reworking of archaic symbols (triangle, sphere, spiral, moons). Each object thus achieves its own uniqueness and beauty, even in the dimension of everyday life in every phase of life. Everything is an open story and you never stop watching.

Ingrid Mair Zischg graduated from the Carmini Art school in Venice, began her professional activity in the pictorial field from the beginning with strong characterizations of an essentially multi-material imprint, an artistic research that engaged her continuously for almost twenty years. Since 1982, her attraction to the ceramic medium has become the threshold beyond which she glimpses a new and stimulating artistic path, which takes her to Italy and abroad, especially to Germany, Spain and Switzerland, with an intense experience of training and research. The exhibition activity, already started with painting, continues in an increasingly significant way with ceramic works in countless private and public spaces in Italy, Holland, Spain, Yugoslavia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Australia. Ingrid Mair Zischg is a multifaceted author, always attracted to experimentation, often anticipating trends that will find a following years later. Her research, constantly evolving, merges, synthesizes and develops everything that has settled in the long journey between the multiple artistic disciplines.

"The extension of creativity never reaches its limits, if the pleasure of inventing new forms find a correspondance in the primordial docility ok matter." Donata Negrini
