Luca Gemma

Raccogliersi la notte, sopra le sabbie, a dare nomi alle stelle

Sunday April 21st 2024
only between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM

From childhood, I felt an intimate consonance with the pure sensitivity of the plant kingdom. I then began compiling herbals, now irretrievably lost, but still with me, sedimented in the folds of my mind. From them, I draw consolation and enlightenment, mediumistic gifts, and the ability to unveil secret connections.
From the circular and reassuring motions of Nature, I received chance as space and fate as time. Signs of salvation that helped me survive in the stormy atmosphere of my childhood home: everywhere, in every place, from any part, the journey of adult life leads me.

Luca Gemma was born in 1961, graduated in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna in 1990. He lives and works everywhere. Currently, he conducts his artistic research in the realm of the living and the landscape. Among the exhibitions: Camera di Rianimazione Galleria Neon Bologna; Die Zerbrochene Wunderkammer, Galerie Rachel Haferkamp Colonia, Germania; Vero>Falso, Galleria Inside/Open Napoli; Il cielo è un disegno di luce, Galleria Vanna Casati Bergamo; Sentiero d'Acqua, c/o Zone Graffio Bologna; Kunst Quadrate Contemporary Art Ruhr, Zollverein, Essen, Germania; Ortoboario - Orto pubblico urbano, Roma, ex-Mattatoio, Monte Testaccio. With the Stalker group; Arte y vida Artificial, ARCO ’05. Madrid.

"The details of the drawings reassemble poetic visions, narrative intrusions, meditative glimpses that open the imagination to a sensitivity balanced between classicism and romanticism." Donata Negrini
