I paint with oil paints on wooden surfaces. My paintings are small. I compose them flat on the table top. I first trace an irregular pencil pattern of geometric lines and I then fill the fields within it. I use only one brush. One of the relevant factors of my painting is how the brush strokes' direction catches the light.
In my practice geometric imagery evolved by instinct and has been the most suitable tool for me to approach a perception of the paint’s paste, and the paste itself and color are useful to reveal how thought and emotion change at every instant of life.
The linearity of the way I lay paint eases a reading of the mind and its feelings, which are inevitably affected by the unconscious and by the manifestations of life I am surrounded by. Painting allows me to access other levels and becomes the filter where all melts and becomes free.
Lorenza Sannai was born in 1969 in Sardinia. Whereas she was from the start attracted by art, she underwent architectural studies. About fifteen years ago she moved to the Verona region, where she presently lives and works. Curiosity for art led her increasingly towards painting, which she is cultivating fully since about seven years. She has participated in several group shows, among which: 2007, "Vado fuori all'aperto" Hortus Unicorni, Vetriolo (VT); 2010, "Unità di Misura... un battito di ciglia", per la giornata del contemporaneo C.A.A.C. a Bannata (Enna); 2011, "Nel frattempo/Meanwhile", Valeggio s/Mincio (VR); 2011, "At Home", galleria Uno Spazio su Misura, Milano.
